October 13, 2000

(Manila, Philippines) - Alumni.NET, a global alumni registry hosted by Infophil.COM, just launched its new version on October 13, 2000. The web site, which has over 1.4 million members from over 50 thousand schools world wide, now offers faster and better services to its members. With its new look and functionality, it aims to increase its membership base and improve the communication among school and work friends with the use of the Internet.

Alumni.NET began in 1994 when its founder and president, Eric Tomacruz, Ph.D. wanted to get in touch with his high school friends. He began a web site for this purpose, and soon expanded the Registry to include other schools in the Philippines. With the demand for an online service like Alumni.NET increasing, the site began listing other countries and since then has continued to grow, mostly through word-of-mouth initiated by satisfied members of the site.

The new site not only sports a new look but offers its members added features. It is now much easier to register and to find an organization or location. It also allows users to search for any person on the site, regardless of locality or organization. Members can upload their recent picture, send e-mail to a friend and own a "My Alumni Page". The "My Alumni Page" provides a central area where each member can update their profile, and view all the organizations they are a member of. The next feature on Alumni.NET's agenda is a bulletin board system for each organization, which will make communicating with fellow alumni even easier.

The launching of the site also brings an expansion into Alumni.NET's concentration. Instead of merely listing High Schools and Colleges/Universities, Alumni.NET now allows its members to list their Companies and other Generic Organizations. Each organization may also contain sub-organizations, such as departments or groups.

"We are very happy with the launching of the new site. Alumni.NET has continually grown over the past 5 years and our dream has been to dramatically improve the site. We believe we have been able to do that today. We only keep our members best interests at heart," states Mr. Eric Tomacruz.

Since Alumni.NET is worldwide, the site aims to reach different people from different countries, regardless of their nationality and the language they speak. That is the reason Alumni.NET has decided to go multilingual. As of launch, the site already supports Traditional Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish. It plans to add more Asian and European languages soon.

"Our Multi-language feature helps the site cross cultural boundaries, one of the primary objectives of the Internet. The world is indeed becoming smaller, and we want to help that happen." adds Mr. Tomacruz.

To increase the popularity of the site, the team has come up with an incentive program, called the Affiliate Program. A member receives US $0.50 for every new member that registers with the site as a result of his or her referral. They also get the chance to win a US $500 monthly bonus if they have the most number of referrals in a month.

A co-branded service offered by Alumni.NET is People Search, which is an email-white page that repackages information collected from Alumni.NET's database. It is a free service offered to different web sites around the globe, and offers the users the ability to search for and email fellow alumni. Some People Search partners include www.Inquirer.net, www.Pinoycentral.com, www.Achuki.com.
